As many of you know I recently joined Nomadic, a a full service branding and interactive digital agency in North Scottsdale. To keep up with the exciting work we have coming in, we are in need of a seasoned .NET developer. Here is a quick description of the job.

Senior .NET Developer

Key Responsibilities:

Serve as the lead programmer on multiple projects.
Ability to estimate project tasks, ensuring delivery of projects on-time and to specification
Being self-directed and architecturally innovative
Help analyze, design, code, test, debug and provide enhancements to existing software.
Work closely with a team as well as interfacing with various external Client and Business Groups.

Qualifications

Bachelors Degree, MCSD certification or other advanced level of industry certification.
Minimum five(5) years working experience with Microsoft .Net (ASP.NET, C# and/or VB.NET).
- Experience using various separation patterns such as: MVC, MVVM and MVP
Minimum two (2) years experience with WCF (Windows Communication Foundation) experience
Minimum five(5) years working experience with SQL Server or other advanced level databases
- Strong database modeling skills
- Experience with Object-relational mapping (ORM) using Entity Framework, Linq-To-Sql or NHibernate.
Excellent oral and written professional communication skills that project a positive, professional image.

Every once in while Tim clues me into people that might be using it and this one popped up today. I thought it was cool enough to post!

Microsoft PDC2008

This year Microsoft’s Professional Developers Conference will be held October 27-30, 2008 at the The Los Angeles Convention Center. Here is what MS has to say about the conference:

PDC2008 features more than 160 sessions covering a wide range of topics for professional developers and architects. These sessions provide an in-depth technical understanding of Microsoft’s future platform and offer practical guidance to help plan the evolution of your own products. Each session is delivered by Microsoft engineers and includes ample time for specific questions and answers.

They have only announced a few of the sessions and here are some of those focused on Silverlight.

XNA Gamefest 2008

For those that might be interested, this year’s XNA Gamefest will be held at the Washington State Convention and Trade Center in downtown Seattle on July 22-23 2008. In previous years the conference has included presentations in the following tracks.

System Programming for Windows and Xbox 360
Graphics
Quality Assurance and Certification
Producer and Business Development
Audio
LIVE
XNA Game Studio
Games for Everyone
Visual Arts

I am not sure if all of these tracks will be presented in July, but I know for certain that they have decided to expand its focus and include a Casual Gaming track highlighting some of the cool new games done in Silverlight. When I know more information I will let everyone know.

My Mix08 Experience

Even though Mix08 is now only a distant memory, the inspiration I leave with will last for quite a while. There is something quite powerful about being around thousands of professionals that are as passionate and enthusiastic about the future of interactive development. For months now I have had the special opportunity to be working close with Microsoft and the there development of the Silverlight 2 Beta. We have seen first hand the power and potential of the platform. It was great to share that excitement with the rest of the development community.

In the weeks to come, I look forward to sharing our discoveries as we learned how to leverage the Silverlight 2 framework to build our most recent casual game. Look for posts on the techniques and methodologies we found most effective.

Visual Studio Install Fest – Tempe AZ

Today Microsoft announced that it will be hosting a Visual Studio Install Fest at the Tempe Center for the arts on December 20th 2007. Here is what Microsoft has to say about it.

The end of the year brings about a time of celebration. It is a time to embrace friends, family and the RTM of Visual Studio 2008 and Fx 3.5. Please join us at our holiday installfest to celebrate on December 20, 2007 at 7:00 PM. The fest will be hosted at the beautiful Tempe Center for the Arts. We will have food drinks, demos and some great giveaways. Best of all, every attendee will receive a fully licensed release version of VS 2008 (to be mailed at a later date).
